Topic: “A Breath-Based Framework for Client Stress Regulation” with guest speaker Kevin Connelly
A client’s physiological state plays a central role in how they process thoughts, regulate emotions, and engage in coaching conversations. When stress is elevated, access to clarity, reflection, and decision-making can shift in real time. In this session, we'll explore how breathing patterns influence stress, focus, and emotional regulation, and how coaches can use simple, structured breathing techniques to support clients during sessions. This is a practical approach that provides tools you can use immediately to help clients shift their state, stay present, and engage more effectively in the coaching process. You will learn how to recognize changes in state, apply targeted breathing techniques, and integrate these tools seamlessly into the work you're already doing.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Identify key breathing patterns associated with stress and changes in client state.
- Apply a simple breath assessment to better understand how a client is breathing and where dysfunction may exist.
- Use targeted, evidence-informed breathing techniques to support client regulation in real time during sessions.
- Integrate both assessment and intervention into existing coaching frameworks to enhance client presence, focus, and effectiveness.

ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER
Kevin Connelly is an author, speaker, researcher, and former anti-human trafficking advocate who’s spent the last 17 years leading transformational experiences around the world. Before focusing on respiratory training and nervous system education, Kevin worked in human trafficking prevention. Despite this work, he found himself struggling with depression, anxiety, and addiction. His recovery didn’t come from mindset tools or traditional talk therapy. It began when he learned how to use evidence-based breathing and physiological regulation techniques to interrupt stress patterns and stabilize his nervous system. Since then he’s guided more than 6,000 people through breathwork sessions and trained over 100 instructors globally, spoken at addiction conferences, and created breathwork trainings for first responder organizations.
