Topic: "Minimizing Bias in Coaching" with guest speaker Adam Magerman, ACC
Much of our psychological functioning happens outside of our conscious awareness and control. This can lead us to think and act in ways that are inconsistent with our values and beliefs. As coaches, it is critical that we investigate and identify and interrupt our own unconscious beliefs in order to deliver maximum impact to our clients. In this session, you will learn what unconscious bias is, how it is formed, and what we can do to minimize its influence on our behavior. We will also perform a deep investigation of our own biases, and build an intervention plan for identifying and eliminating bias in the future.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Understanding unconscious bias
- Identifying our own unconscious biases
- Learning strategies for interrupting bias
- Building a plan for minimizing bias conversation/demonstrations.
