ICF Michigan Newsletter

March 2020

Dear Coaching Community,

Cheron Freeman,

ICF Michigan President

I hope everyone is staying healthy and adjusting to being indoors due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus).  We, in the coaching profession, are leading our clients and organizations during these uncertain and fearful times because at the heart of the situation we are where our clients (and others) go to maintain equilibrium, perspective and momentum in their life.  Our chapter recognizes the need to support the coaching community during this time of change. Below, are opportunities for you to connect with us virtually over the next month, in addition to other business support resources available.

1) Participate in Virtual Open House on Thursday, March 19th at 7:00 pm.
Considering the level of anxiety and uncertainty that we're all living with, the Board would like to invite you to an open conversation during our Virtual Open House about how the pandemic is affecting you personally and professionally. How are you responding? What impact is it having on your business and work? How are you taking care of yourself? How are you showing up for your clients? What peer support would be useful to you? Registration is available on our ICF Michigan website.

2) Virtual Coach Cafes
Our coach cafes (Grand Rapids, Royal Oak & Ann Arbor) will be held virtually via Zoom through the month of April. Zoom information will be provided once it's available. Attending these calls is a great way to stay connected and talk to like minded individuals while you are temporarily indoors. For the most up-to-date information about the Coach Cafes, please refer to the Events section of our Facebook page.

3) Education Webinars
Our regular education webinars will remain on schedule and continue as usual. I encourage you to attend if you have not had a chance to participate in the past due to schedule, etc. Please refer to our Events Calendar to see all upcoming webinars.

4) Attend Small Business Association of Michigan Daily COVID-19 Calls.
One of the benefits of being a member of ICF Michigan is belonging to SBAM (Small Business Administration of Michigan). In order to keep business owners up to speed, SBAM is hosting daily briefings everyday at 3:00pm on their Facebook page. COVID-19 is affecting all of our daily lives and our businesses. SBAM is dedicated to helping all of business owners through these unprecedented times, weeding through the gossip and providing you the facts. I encourage you to listen and stay up to date on economic impacts of the COVID-19.

I am both comforted and inspired by the commitment and determination I see every day, especially in times of uncertainty, from my peers in the coaching profession. Here is a great article from ICF Global that captures what coaches are doing to support clients right now. I am thankful to be a part of such an amazing community! Please remember to take time to check in with yourself and if you need a safe harbor or have any questions, please reach out to us.

Cheron Freeman
President, ICF Michigan

A note from ICF's Executive Director, Magdalena Nowicka Mook, "2020 marks ICF's 25th anniversary as the global organization for coaches and coaching. We are celebrating this milestone anniversary by unveiling an expanded organizational structure and leadership team.
