Topic: “The DareMethod: Using Self-portraiture in a Coaching Session” with guest speaker Dasha Dare, PCC
The DareMethod is a fast, embodied coaching tool that uses self-portraiture to expand a client’s self-awareness and restore their sense of agency. Grounded in the belief that our true nature is obscured by the images we identify with, the method works with a simple but powerful contrast: two selfies — one taken in a moment of stress or reactivity, one taken after a brief guided return to the body. Side by side, these images make visible what is otherwise invisible: the states we habitually embody, and the cost of that attachment. Drawing on the neuroscience of self-face processing — the brain’s uniquely direct and emotionally charged response to one’s own image — the DareMethod bypasses the analytical mind and creates immediate insight.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Distinguish between coaching from a conceptual frame versus a somatic, image-based frame
- Use a selfie-based inquiry sequence as a tool to evoke awareness in clients
- Identify at least one way to integrate the DareMethod philosophy into their current coaching practice
- Articulate the connection between self-image, identity, and behavioral change
* Approved for TBD CEU's*
ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER
Dasha Dare is a visual artist, researcher, certified coach (ICF PCC), and speaker exploring the intersection of self-perception and consciousness, driven by an idea that the image you hold of yourself shapes the reality you live in. A former professional portrait photographer, her work with physical images inspired the DareMethod - integrating imagery, self-inquiry, and embodied awareness to help people break free from limiting self-images and step into effortless authenticity. She is currently completing her first year of a master's program at the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the George Washington University and exploring PhD research on the neuroscience of self-face recognition as it relates to identity and behavioral change.
