Listening is widely agreed upon by coaches to be one of the most powerful perceptual acuities.  Yet how often do we pause to assess our listening skills, or to exercise and strengthen this gift?  This session enables you to gain clarity around your personal and professional listening practices.  Explore the different facets of listening, such as: self, other, art, science, time and space, and leave with exercises to hone and develop your listening skills.  We will also discuss historical and modern shifts in our communication modalities, and how we may have a collective, positive influence as listening advocates.

ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER
Debra “Rockey” Rockey is a Senior Consultant in Organization Design and Development with Trinity Health and the owner of RockeyRoad Consulting – focusing on serious and semi-serious human behaviors.  Drawing on her background in theater, improvisation, ecology and learning, Rockey “dances in the moment” to lead leaders and teams to new insights and inspired action. 

Rockey is a Board Certified Executive Coach, a Global Career Development Facilitator and a ProSCI Certified Change Practitioner.  She is also a Designing Your Life™ certified coach, using her experience in Human-Centered Design.  Rockey holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in Wildlife Biology and Ecology, a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University in Healthcare Administration, and a Doctorate in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  In her free time, Rockey enjoys nurturing her Michigan native plants wetlands and visiting her daughter in the mountains of Aspen, Colorado.
