ICF Michigan Newsletter

September 2013

Dear ICF Michigan Coaches:

As I was preparing to write this month's newsletter, I recognized the need for inspiration and ideas. I decided to visit the ICF website to see what might be of value to pass along to our Michigan Chapter members. Two hours later, here I am. Rather than forward some wisdom or data that will inform your own coaching practice, I highly encourage you to dedicate some of your own time to perusing the site: www.coachfederation.org. Be sure to check out the "About" tab where you will find a collection of Coaching World publications from the past 2 years including the most recent Issue 7: "Theory and Practice". Spending time on the ICF website made me proud to be a professional coach and also somewhat humbled. I realized that if I don't continuously explore new ideas, theories and practices, I'm stunting my own growth and dishonoring the profession I've chosen.

Labor Day has come and gone and the mood in the air has shifted dramatically from fun and games to serious business. That's OK. ICF Michigan is ready. With an exciting Fall Forum scheduled for October 17 focused on Growing Your Business, we're focused on the development of our members and other coaches who choose to join us. Based on registrations received so far, it looks like the ICF Michigan Annual Coaches Forum will be well attended!  It's not too late to take advantage of the Early Registration Fee which ends Friday, Sept. 20 (members pay only $89).  After September 20, the fee increases to $99.  Still a great value for all that you will receive.  Curious to learn more?  Go to the Forum's special website - also known as "base camp" - to get the details. http://icfmichiganannualcoachesforum.weebly.com

The dedication of our Education & Development Board members and volunteers has been evident this year. In addition to the upcoming Forum, new Teleclass offerings have attracted members and non-members from all over Michigan and even beyond state borders. Fresh topics, excellent speakers and CEUs for participation are getting rave reviews. Networking is growing too with a new Coach Café in Grand Rapids and the new evening café in Royal Oak. What a fun year to be involved with ICF Michigan!

One more important "coming attraction" to bring to your attention.... the new ICF MI website is getting ready to debut this coming month.  How exciting is that?  The new website will provide all the information that we've been squeezing into these newsletters and more - including a "Members Only" page.  Keep your eyes open for the invitation to check out our new website.

Enjoy the new season of autumn and all the new developmental offerings coming your way through ICF Michigan.  I look forward to seeing you at the Fall Forum next month.

Warm Regards,

Barb Grigsby

2013 ICF Michigan President
