As outgoing President of ICF Michigan, this final newsletter is a
chance for me to recognize the amazing work of Board and Committee
members in 2013. So, please indulge me as I "crow" a bit
about all that I'm proud of related to ICF Michigan. This is a longer
newsletter than normal, so pour yourself a cup of Christmas tea and
join me in reviewing the wonderful achievements of Board and
member-volunteers this past year.
1. Let's begin with Membership.
This past year, we grew membership numbers by 11% . Championed by
Board member Deb Voyt, the committee...
all membership letters, assuring that new and renewing members
experience a personal connection with the organization
and recommended system changes to simplify the renewal process
which will be effective in 2014
"Shout Out" to Committee Members
Missie Nordrum and Vicki Hepler, with support from
& Development Committee set out at the beginning
of the year to increase the frequency and quality of educational
opportunities for all members. Since this goal is so pivotal to the
purpose and mission of ICF Michigan, 3 Board members divided and
organized the work and engaged member-volunteers to assist. As a
result, Board members Lori Kerlin, Rebecca Kraus, and Sandy Marshall
did a fantastic job and accomplished the following:
new monthly Tele-class Series in June which ran through
December. (See a complete listing of the monthly offerings on
our website.) Members were provided an opportunity to earn 9.0
Core Competency and .5 Resource Development CCEUs since June.
state-wide Coach Cafe (Tele-Café) and grew participation in
ongoing monthly in-person cafes in Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor,
Lansing and Royal Oak; introduced "First one is on us"
to welcome new coaches to cafés. NOTE: a new Traverse
City Café will be launched on the 2nd Tuesday of January at
"Books a Million"
an innovative educational/free space Fall Forum, Grow Your Business,
Make It Happen!, October 13, 2013, which was
enthusiastically experienced by over 60 ICF Michigan members and
Outs" go to the following volunteers who contributed so much to
the planning and execution of education and development programs:
Kyle Dooley Kinder, Kathy Munoz, Deb Nystrom, Stephanie Maat, Micki
Berg, Jean Johnson, Grace Menzel, Chris Stier, and Angela Musselman.
3. Marketing efforts were championed by Board member (and Vice
President) Susanne Cordes-Hoelterhoff, who introduced new ways to
reach out to members and engage them in networking conversations. The
"Coach Happy Hour" was introduced in Royal Oak.
Sponsorship, championed by Board member Jan Martinez,
attracted advertising and sponsorship dollars that contributed to the
overall financial health of ICF Michigan this past year. Advertisers
were provided new venues to get their messages out to members
including e-blasts, newsletter sidebars, website and Forum
sponsorships. A solid "Shout Out" goes to dedicated
committee member, David Chinsky.
ICF Michigan launched a new, attractive and useful Website
this past year under the leadership of Board member, Mary Jo Asmus.
The new website captures the vibrant energy of ICF Michigan and
aligns with the branding of parent organization, ICF. It also
provides additional benefits to members with a new Members Only page.
Significant contributions to the design and launch of the website
were provided by designer, Caley Walsh, and ICF Administrative
Assistant, Kathy Vlietstra.
Board member and Treasurer,
Mary Selzer, managed the books and reported each month on the financial health
of the organization. For the 2nd time since the founding of ICF
Michigan, we are able to report a modest profit. This is the result
of creative growth in membership, new and continued educational
programs like Tele-classes, a successful Fall Forum, as well as
excellent money management by Board members who now serve a 2 year
term. During the December Board meeting, the Board finalized the
Operating Budget for 2014 which is both challenging and achievable.
That's the full and fabulous summary of what has been a most
productive and rewarding year for ICF Michigan. I hope this list
inspires you to get engaged in some of the ongoing work of the
committees in 2014. Exciting things are planned under the leadership
of Susanne Cordes- Hoelterhoff. We're eager to continue the good work
that has begun in 2013 and will be making announcements early in the
new year about exciting opportunities for members.
Let me say in closing that it has been my honor to serve as your
President this past year. In this month of gift-giving and
gift-receiving, I feel blessed. My wish of "full
engagement" for all ICF Michigan members has been realized and
is demonstrated through the increase in membership, volunteer
involvement, member program participation and overall member value.
The power of vision and clear intentions has been proven yet again.
Thank you for being professional coaches who believe in serving our
clients with excellence and authenticity. Thank you, fellow Board
members and volunteers, for getting involved and for the contribution
of your time, your passionate energy and your gifts. I wish each of
you blessed and beautiful holidays and a most successful new year.
